How do I book, and what discounts are available?

Check our online booking, available at the top of this page or via the homepage, for current times and prices.

We offer several favourable discounts:

Together Ticket (25% discount): Available for adults, seniors 60+, youths and students travelling together in the price level Seat. Up to two children under 16 can also receive up to 80% off when travelling with at least one adult/senior/youth/student. The ticket is only valid when booked on Snälltåget.se.

Youth discount (16–25 years): 20% off the price level Seat.

Student discount: Students with a valid Studentkortet/STUK.CO, ISIC card or Mecenat card receive 25% off the price level Seat.

Senior discount 60+: Seniors receive approximately 20% off the price level Seat.

What are the rules for changing or cancelling tickets?

Tickets purchased on Snälltåget.se can be rebooked if cancelled at least 24 hours before departure (or 7 days before departure for private compartments on night trains). Refundable tickets are also available for an additional fee. Read more about cancellations, refunds, and special terms and conditions.

Do I need a passport to travel with the train?

All passengers must carry valid travel documents:

  • A passport with an MRZ code, or
  • An EU-standard national ID card containing an MRZ code or chip, issued by an EU/EEA national authority.

The ID document must be presented during ticket inspection. This applies to all travellers, including children.

Border police carry out regular checks.

Can I travel with a pet?

Pets are welcome on board and travel in a designated pet area. Each passenger may bring one pet, which is charged at the same price as an accompanying child under 16.

You can easily book by ticking “I want to travel with a pet” in the first step of the online booking.

How much luggage may I bring?

You may bring two pieces of hand luggage (maximum 55 × 45 × 25 cm) and one smaller personal item, such as a handbag.

For a smoother journey, we recommend packing smaller, soft bags rather than one large hard suitcase. Smaller bags are easier to carry on board and fit on the luggage rack or between seats. Large suitcases can be harder to manage and may block aisles or emergency exits.

Can I bring a bicycle?

It is not possible to bring a bicycle on the train. The exception is folding bikes packed in a bag, which must then comply with hand luggage dimensions.
