Night train from Berlin to Copenhagen and Stockholm

Take the night train from Berlin to Stockholm! Enjoy a good night's sleep in a Private Compartment. Enjoy food and beverages in our restaurant "Krogen" Malmö–Stockholm or buy some snacks and drinks from the kiosk Berlin–Malmö. After a good night's sleep you will wake up rested at your destination – ready for a new day of adventures!

All Snälltåget departures also stop in Hamburg and some departures also stop in Dresden.

You can also travel between Berlin and Oslo by train with a change of trains in Malmö. The journey is easily booked in one ticket via our online booking.

From 4 May 2026, we will also offer daytime train services to Hamburg from Stockholm, via Malmö and Copenhagen.

Food and drinks onboard

Between Berlin and Malmö you can visit our kiosk which is located in the train crews' compartment and offers a smaller assortment of drinks and snacks. Here we sell coffee, water, soft drinks, wine, beer and snacks. This is also where you pick up your pre-ordered breakfast bag. When the train crew checks tickets, the kiosk is closed.

The restaurant Krogen is open between Malmö and Stockholm and vice versa. Enjoying a nice meal in our restaurant on your way to your adventure is a must. The restaurant popular and therefore we have a reservation system. Book a table via My Journey in advance to secure your spot in our restaurant!

Pre-order your breakfast!

Ensure you start your day in a great mood by pre-ordering your breakfast bag! The breakfast bag includes a double cheese sandwich, cinnamon bun, juice, and a hot drink (coffee, hot chocolate, or tea) and costs 99 SEK when pre-ordered. Vegan, gluten-free, and lactose-free options are available.

You can pre-order breakfast when purchasing your ticket or via My Journey. If you purchase breakfast on board, it costs 109 SEK and is subject to availability.

How do I book my journey on the night train?

You can easily book your journey via the online booking system at the top of this page or on the homepage. There you can see current departures, times and prices.

Once you have made a search, yellow days in the booking calendar show which dates we operate services to your destination.

What options for travelling are available on the night train?

You can choose between a Seat, a Berth in a shared compartment, or a Private compartment. If you are travelling together, a Private compartment is often the most comfortable option.

Seat
A standard seat in a saloon carriage.

Berth in shared compartment
You share the compartment with other travellers (up to 6 people). The compartment is converted from seating into berths for the night.

Private compartment
A private compartment for you and your party (up to 6 people). The compartment is converted into night mode and bed linen is provided.

Can I change or cancel my ticket?

Tickets purchased on Snälltåget.se can normally be changed or cancelled up to 24 hours before departure. For a private compartment on the night train, the deadline is 7 days. Refundable tickets are also available as an option.

Is a passport required for travel?

To travel on the night train from Berlin to Malmö, all passengers must have a valid:

  • Passport with MRZ code or 
  • National ID card of EU standard, containing MRZ code or chip, issued by a national authority within the EU / EEA.

The ID document must be presented at check-in and on board the train.

This applies to all travelers, including children.

The documents must be provided in the ticket control.

The border police carries out regular controls.

Can I travel with a pet?

Animals are allowed in Private Compartments. You can book this by checking the box "I want to travel with a pet" in the first step of the online booking.

How much luggage can I bring?

You may bring two pieces of hand luggage (max. 55 × 45 × 25 cm) as well as one small personal item. If you book a private compartment, you may bring additional luggage.

Can I bring my bike?

It is not possible to bring bikes on the train. If you have a folding bike it could be put as a hand luggage in your compartment or on the luggage rack in the seating coach.

Are Interrail passes valid?

Interrail Global Passes are valid, but you must purchase a reservation which you can book here on our website. You can find the online booking system at the top of the page or on the homepage.
